Telephony Phone Reset

If you have a Cisco IP Phone and need to remove line's 1 and/or 2, you will have to reset the phone in order to do so. To reset your Cisco IP Phone 7940 Series follow these steps:

  • Plug it in
  • Hold down # key
  • Screen will say Reset Key Sequence Detected, you will see the Headset, Mute, and Speaker buttons blinking
  • Then click the following buttons sequentially; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, *, 0, #
  • Then the phone will ask you if you want to save the Network Configuration, click No. 
  • You will then see the phone begin to reset to factory settings.
